Patricia, our treasurer, sent a report that we currently have a balance of $2023.54 in the treasury.

Rich discussed two carving workshops that are coming up in the near future. The first is the "Ozarks Woodcarving Seminar" will be held March 13 - 17 in Springfield, MO. Click here for more information. Also, the "Renegade Woodcarvers Roundup" will be held March 20-24 in the Veteran's Building at Fiddlers Grove, Lebanon, TN. Gene indicated that he scheduled another class with John Engler for December 8-11, 2023 with December 8-10 carving and December 11th optional painting. It will cost $195 for the first three days and an additional $65 for the optional painting day. Blanks are extra and typically run from $40 to $60 depending on what you choose.. The class will be held in Leipers Fork at Vic Hood's studio from 8:30a to 4:30p. You must pay in full to reserve a spot. You can find more information under the "Events" tab on the website

Joe briefly described the Geisler-Moroder Woodcarving School in Elbigenalp, Austria. Joe will be working on getting a group together to attend a class in the fall (October 2023) -- stay tuned for more information. Their packages include: 1 or 2 week courses of instruction with both hands-on and theoretical instruction, tools and equipment for carving are provided for your use -- no need to bring your own tools, and full room and board included in the price (based on double occupancy, approximately $1056 for the 1-week class). Additional costs would be a roundtrip flight to Munich (approximately $1100) plus transportation from Munich to the school. They have designated weeks throughout the year where the courses are taught in English so we would go on one of those weeks. Show & Tell

Three members had carvings to show at the meeting. First, Butch displayed a medium relief carving that was completed in John Engler's class. The carving was painted using watercolor paint.

Clark had a star that was carved to look like an oregami star. He described the challenges of getting both sides to be congruent.

Joe presented three items. First was a caricature Santa he has been working on, next was a caricature that could has five different, interchangable heads, and lastly was a knife holder that he created out of a thread spool holder he found at Hobby Lobby.

Rich exhibited two items. First, was a medium reilef carving of a Santa that he completed in the same [John Engler] class Butch attended. His carving was also painted using watercolor paint. His second item was an oregami looking star that he carved from a cut-out given to him by Clark. There was some bantering back and forth as to whose star looked better -- the jury is still out on that issue!!
